A toast to change

You know, things are coming to a nice close. The school year is ending, I’m done with Apush testing, my homework is down, and I’m more or less stress free. Small changes in my life are tying all of the good things together. And getting rid of things I don’t need in my room is nice too. I like change. Summer is so close… I feel that I will regret it later, but I wish that it would come sooner.

Brief comments with some spoilers about the animes I’m currently watching.

  • Code Geass: getting to the end of season 1. My heart suffers for poor Lelouch who had to make Shirley forget about their friendship and who had found out that Suzaku is the White Knight that irritated him so much. I had a moment of joy when I saw them fighting temporarily together. Euphie was cute during her confession ^^ Not sure what to think of Shneizel except that he’s handsome
  • Puella Magi Madoka Magica: well I finished it like two weeks ago and I really liked it. I’ve never seen such a misleading opening in an anime though. It’s a complex, dark but moving story. Episode 10 broke my heart. Homura-chan became my favorite girl, but I also liked Mami-san, Kyouko and Madoka. Kyubei was a good character even if I hated him. Great music and imaginative animation during the battles. I’m ready for more Urobuchi
  • Karneval: though I need more episodes to see where the whole plot is going to, I’m in love with the characters and their interactions. For instance, I like how Akari is deliciously unfriendly with Hirato ^^ The little sheeps are hilarious! But the two latest episodes (5 and 6) were very sad *hugging Yokata and Tsubame*   I’m very worried about Tsubame. And Gareki is such a caring guy even if he tries to hide it
  • Shingeki no Kyojin: dark, brutal and gripping. For now, I’m in denial re: Eren’s fate. I cannot accept another Ned Stark twist now!!! Well he could become like an inspiration and guiding “light” so another one can step up and take that torch. But…I don’t like that.  I was thinking it could also be like Jonas and the whale though I find it hard to explain even to myself how he could have survived in that situation (and with his limbs like that). Totally moved by Mikasa’s story and by Hannah and Franz’s scene in episode 6. Mikasa is awesome
  • Chihayafuru: my anime oasis. It has its moments of angst but nothing compared to murder, brutal death, dark fate, conspiracy and/or betrayal. As Tokkei12 pointed out, its atmosphere is similar in some way to Sakamichi no Apollon’s. Taichi is adorable, I love both Chihara and the super cute Kana-chan and I got fond of Komano and Nishida too. The latest episode I saw (season 1, #12) warmed my heart as the Empress recognized the karuta club’s achievements and Chihaya’s dad started (finally!) a notebook about her activities ^^ I need more Arata!
